OSRAM
The history of the OSRAM Automotive division began in 1925, when a crowd of onlookers gathered in Berlin to witness the unveiling of the world’s first two-wire headlamp up close. What they saw that day was not merely a brighter lamp that allowed drivers to switch between high beam and low beam. With the introduction of the first BILUX® lamp, they witnessed a historic turning point for road safety. At the same time, it marked the beginning of a unique success story, which OSRAM has continued to build upon in the field of traffic lighting ever since, with dedication and a spirit of innovation. In 2020, OSRAM Automotive, in close collaboration with the German TÜV and the Federal Motor Transport Authority, achieved something that had previously been considered impossible: As the first LED retrofit lamp with road approval in Germany, the NIGHT BREAKER® LED is conquering the aftermarket. By the end of 2023, the range had been expanded to include the NIGHT BREAKER® LED H1 and H4, meaning that classic cars and motorhomes, among others, can now be retrofitted. Since 2024, LED retrofitting has also been possible for motorcycles. At the same time, OSRAM Automotive launched the TRUCKSTAR® LED, developed specifically for the truck segment. In total, the NIGHT BREAKER® LED range now comprises four product families, eight lamp types, over 1,000 vehicle models and 28 approved countries.
